Down in the caverns. We arrived early enough in the morning that my son and I had a private tour of the caverns. The path is paved with concrete.
At this point, we're 35 feet (11 meters) underground. The deepest part of the cave on the tour is 103 feet (30 meters). The temperature is a constant 54ºF (13ºC), but it doesn't feel cold after being outside on a July morning in Ohio.
The red colors on the walls are caused by iron oxide mixed in with the water. The white formations on the left side are calcite left from water dripping from the ceiling.
