Dr. Bradley Sidle of Xenia, Ohio, submitted the photographs of the Statue of Liberty, taken August 2005.
The Statue of Liberty National Monument is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for Christmas, December 25. Time passes are needed to enter the monument.
The statue, sculpted by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, was completed in Paris in June 1884. The statue was presented to America by the people of France on July 4, 1884. It took two years to build the pedistal and assemble the statue on Bedloe's Island, now named Liberty Island. President Grover Cleveland accepted the statue on behalf of the United States on October 28, 1886.
